FD Interest Formula
Formula (Compound Interest):
A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n × t)
Where:
A = Maturity Amount
P = Principal (Deposit Amount)
r = Annual Interest Rate (decimal)
n = Compounding frequency (4 for quarterly)
t = Tenure in years
Interest Earned = A − PWorked Example
Scenario: ₹1,00,000 FD at 7% p.a. for 3 years (quarterly compounding)
FD Calculator — FAQs
FD interest is calculated using compound interest: A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t). Most Indian banks compound quarterly (n=4). The interest earned is A minus P. Tax on FD interest is deducted as TDS at 10% if annual interest exceeds ₹40,000 (₹50,000 for senior citizens).
